What we do
Practice Areas
Eight practices that constantly intersect. A share purchase touches corporate, tax and employment law at once, which is why work is organised around the matter rather than around separate departments.
- 01 Corporate Law Incorporation, structuring and corporate governance.
- 02 Compliance and Corporate Integrity AML, anti-bribery, data protection and audits.
- 03 Intellectual Property Trademarks, copyright, franchising and IP litigation.
- 04 Tax Law Planning, DIAN assessments and tax litigation.
- 05 Customs and International Trade DIAN customs proceedings, AEO and foreign trade.
- 06 Employment Law Preventive employer risk management and litigation.
- 07 Litigation and Arbitration Court representation, enforcement and arbitration.
- 08 International Expansion Market entry and cross-border contracting.
How we work
Judgment over volume
- Conclusion first
- Every opinion separates facts, legal analysis and recommendation. The conclusion comes first; the technical reasoning follows.
- Prevention
- Most of the disputes we handle could have been avoided by a better drafted contract or a properly conducted disciplinary process.
- Cross-border reach
- Incorporation abroad, cross-border contracting, and OECD, RSPO and AEO standards.
- Restraint
- We do not promise outcomes. We set out scenarios, probabilities and costs, and the decision stays with the client.
Who you work with
The team
Every matter is handled by a named lawyer with verifiable credentials and a direct email.
Common questions
About the firm
- What kind of clients does Acevedo & Acevedo Abogados act for?
- The firm acts primarily for companies: entities operating in Colombia, foreign companies entering the Colombian market, and Colombian companies opening operations abroad. Recurring sectors are agribusiness, retail, manufacturing, foreign trade and technology.
- Does the firm work with foreign clients and in English?
- Yes. The firm advises foreign investors entering Colombia and works in English on cross-border matters. Members of the team have trained and practised in Spain and the United States, and correspondence and deliverables can be produced in English.
- Where is the office and how do I arrange a meeting?
- The office is at Calle 100 # 8A-37, Oficina 701, Torre A, Edificio World Trade Center, in Bogotá. Meetings can be arranged by writing to [email protected], via WhatsApp, or through the contact form on this site. Business hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Colombia time (UTC-5).
- How are fees charged?
- It depends on the matter. Ongoing counsel is structured as a monthly retainer, discrete filings as a fixed fee, and litigation combines an initial fee with a success component. The arrangement is agreed and put in writing before any work begins.
Let us discuss your matter
